Why Are Streamers Cringe?
A lack of authenticity
Oversaturation
Lack of good media to engage with
Undisclosed ads spammed on social media
They don’t “Touch grass”
Streamers back in the day used to be people who did it for the love of the game and now it’s oversaturated with everyone who thinks they can do it as a job because it’s “Glamourous”. This means it is now about the lowest common denominator including low tier rage baiting.
I mean how many times a week do you see a dumb clip from Pokimane?
Pokimane has been around for over a decade yes but she is the perfect example of normie content with her ‘girl politics’.
These streamers are removed from reality while telling you, the viewer to go touch grass. They often forget how good they have it, I recall a streamer talking about how hard streaming was and then the backlash that came from people saying who cares then get a real job. Times are tough.
Another contributing factor I noticed was lack of good content to engage with. There’s not much good media these days whether it be games, movies, books or videos. It’s mostly become reacting to bad things as content. I think by not having good original content to laugh at, it overall affects the lack of inspiration in creators online.
Everyone these days is astroturfed and come out of nowhere via undisclosed ads and boosting on the botnet. As technology has advanced inauthenticity has been easier than ever to do.
Buying viewers isn’t new but these things have become more sophisticated. What is stopping you for example paying drama alert to tweet out some fake event you created to go viral? Where are these influencers magically getting money from to do this? These are the questions we should be wondering about when it comes to why content creation has turned into finding a needle in a haystack for anything worthwhile.
If you have any good content you’d like to share please leave a comment below.

Astroturfing and botting of likes on social media are becoming serious problems. There are numerous high profile accounts on Twitter (for example) that quite obviously consistently purchase hundreds of thousands of botted likes for awful, woke takes.
Look for people who write and act, not streamers.
